What are Combi Boilers?

System boilers are similar to low water content boilers, but with all the necessary extras built in to fit to a sealed, fully pumped system. But system boilers tend to be larger than standard low water content boilers because they have these additional components within the boiler, but system boilers are easier to install and look tidier as well. The other good thing about system boilers is that they are reliable and cheap to run; however some people can find the installation and repair of system boilers more expensive than for other types of product.

Gas and Oil Boilers: Choosing a Condensing Product

There are new standards in place if you are changing your existing hot-water central-heating boiler or changing the form of heating system you have.

Gas boilers installed after 1 April 2005 and oil boilers installed after 1 April 2007 must be condensing boilers, whether they are replacements are new installations. That's because these kinds of oil boilers and gas boilers produce less carbon dioxide while still being effective at heating. They also reduce the amount of heat which is lost through the flue, when compared with other types of oil boilers or gas boilers.

At the same time, condensing boilers convert at least 86% of the fuel they use into useful heat - with older oil boilers or gas boilers that figure may be just 60%.
